  • Shower as you would normally the day before or on the morning of your surgery
  • Specific instructions on fasting will be given to you depending on the time of your surgery but in general, for morning surgery do not eat or drink from midnight the night before your surgery unless otherwise instructed. This includes water, coffee, tea and juice.  Taking routine medication with a small sip of water is ok.  For afternoon surgery, a small breakfast prior to 6am is ok, and nothing after that.  Your surgery may be cancelled if fasting instructions are not met.
  • Do not drink alcohol 24 hours prior to your surgery
  • Please ask us if you are unsure about any medications to cease – we will give you specific instructions on this.
  • Do not bring valuables to your surgery
  • Remove make-up and any jewellery on the day. You will need to remove contact lenses, dentures.
  • Please inform us if you have any metal piercings or implants that cannot be removed
  • Cease herbal medications 1 month prior to surgery unless discussed beforehand
  • Please notify us if your general health changes prior to your surgery such as you get a cold, cough, fever or infection.
